Activities 2019-20

    SCHOOL ELECTION.   Army Public School Damana conducted school elections for Head Boy and Head Girl from class XII and Junior Head Boy and Junior Head Girl from class V  for the session 2019-20 on 23 Apr 2019.

 

   BEHES- A DEBATE FOR ALL.  A total number of thirty students i.e 10 teams ( 2 Lionsand 8 Cubs) from A P S Damana participated in the Two days debate tournament, BEHES- A Debate for All  that was held at APS Kaluchak on 26 Apr 2019 and 27 Apr 2019. Umika Sharma of class VII brought laurels to the school by winning Best Speaker Rank 1(-a Trophy and a Gold medal) in the cubs division, out of more than hundred students. Besides our three students got gold medals, five students got silver medals and five students got Bronze medals.


 


  VOX POPULI.  The Debating Phenomenon North India 2019-20 was conducted on 27 and 28 Apr 2019 at Jodhamal Public School .In this contest all the prominent Schools of Jammu participated. In the event nineteen students of APS Damana  from classVI-X participated

   8th  MATUSHRI INTER SCHOOL DEBATE.   8th Matushri Inter school debate competition was held at Dogra Law College Bari Brahmana on 26th Apr 2019. A team of two students participated from  different schools. The topic was “ A person with criminal record should not be allowed to contest elections “ A team of two had to speak for and against the topic. 

AWES RAISING DAYArmy Public School  Damana celebrated AWES raising day with great pride and gaiety. To commemorate the day special assembly was conducted.     


   
BIDING ADIEU TO  BRIG. ABHIJIT CHANDRA  SM CDR 19 INF BDE, CHAIRMAN ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL DAMANA .

“Great is the art of beginning , but greater is the art of ending”

A warm and congenial adieu was bid to Brig Abhijit Chandra SM Cdr 19 Inf Brigade Chairman of the School on 09 May 2019 in the Activity Hall of the School . The function was graced by the Principal and  the staff. The programme  started with the presentation of bouquet.  On this ocassion Principal , Vice Principal and some staff members also shared their views. The programme was graced with the meledious songs sung by music teacher

Mr Jagbhushan Bakshi followed by a small get together with tea party . The programme concluded with the felicitation of Brig. Abhijeet Chandra  with the memento and then he also extended  his gratitude towards the school.

  CELEBRATION OF WORLD TECHNOLOGY DAY/ MOTHERS’ DAY

APS Damana  conducted  special morning assembly to celebrate National Technology day  which is celebrated on 11 May every year.The special  morning assembly was conducted on 13 May 2019 in the School Premises. This day is celebrated every year to commemorate Indian Nuclear Test at Pokhran in 1998. The aim of the celebration was to highlight the achievements of Indian Scientists and Engineers in the field of Science and Technology and also to encourage the students towards the same. Mr Narinder Singh  PGT Computer Science  apprised the students about the importance of the day.

      2 J&K GIRLS BATTALION ORGANISES ANNUAL  TRAINING CAMP

A ten days Annual Training Camp (ATC-J3) for NCC Girl Cadets commenced from 14 May 2019 to 23 May 2019 at NCC Camping Ground, Nagrota. 15 Girl Cadets of our school participated in this camp. The camp commenced with the opening address of Camp Commandant CO 2 J&K Girls Bn NCC. He spoke about training, discipline and motto of NCC. He motivated the cadets to participate in each and every activity of NCC. He also motivated the cadets to join Armed Forces. He stressed that if  duties are delivered with dedication, passion and hard work then only our nation will progress. During this camp, training was imparted to the cadets on various subjects such as drill, map reading, first aid adventure , self defence, military history, physical fitness etc.Yoga session was also organized in NCC Camp with an aim to aware the cadets about benefits of yoga.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

1)      Cadet Shreya Sharma (XB) and Cadet  Bhavishya Saraf (XB) selected for the shooting camp .

2)      Cadet Bhavishya Saraf (XB) got medal for work done as a Deputy Company Senior in the camp.

TEACHERS’ EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME

EMPOWERING TEACHERS IS THE KEY TO ENHANCE EDUCATION

 

APS Damana organized Teachers’ Empowerment Programme from 20 May- 31 May 2019.

The Capacity Building Programme was conducted under the supervision of our worthy Principal, Mrs Pushpinder Kaur with an aim to inspire, empower and enlighten the educators to chisel their potential and garnish their skills. The Programme included sessions on –Interpersonal Relationships, Work Ethics,Tips on Notebook Maintenance, Good Handwriting, IT Workshop, Faculty wise Workshops including Curriculum Planning ,Lesson Planning for effective teaching.




      EDUCATIONAL TOUR OF THE SCHOOL TO HIMACHAL PRADESH

 

Army Public School Damana organised an Educational cum Motivational Trip to Himachal Pradesh from 27 May 2019 to 1 June 2019. 32 Children from class VI to XI participated in the trip. Two teachers Mrs. Gurmeet Kour and Mrs. Nirmal Sharma along with JCO Babu Ram Dogra (3Dogra) also accompanied the children.The trip was aimed to provide the children a lot more than just a holiday for students. It provides the students a chance to develop a close relationship with classmates and schoolmates. It was quite interesting for children to explore  the beauty of Devbhumi Himachal Pradesh


      EXUBERANT PARTICIPATION IN 5TH INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA DAY CELEBRATION

On  June 21, 5th International Yoga Day was celebrated at Hakku Stadium,Jammu . It was organized by the Directorate of Indian System of Medicine & Homeopathy (J&K). The theme of the day was  Climate Action’.    NCC Cadets of APS Damana along with Mrs Gurmeet Kour, PRT,  took this  privilege through  their exuberant participation  in the global and unique event.  The participants performed several yoga exercises under the guidance of trained yoga masters. All  the participants made a pledge to make yoga an integral part of their life.


1.      APS PRINCIPALS WORKSHOP NO.18

 

Under Principals Empowerment Programme, 3 days workshop was conducted by Army Welfare Education Society for newly appointed principals of APSs. The Principal of the school,                   Mrs Pushpinder Kaur  also attended the same workshop at FDRC from 24 June to 26 June 2019.

The workshop started with the opening address of  Maj Gen Anil Khosla, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd), Managing Director, AWES. He emphasised on enormous collective effort of AWES & all APSs to provide “Quality Education at Affordable Cost”.

He highlighted the performance of APSs where these Schools are continuously producing best results in comparison to the different categories of Schools in the country.

 

During workshop MD AWES appreciated the achievements of schools in CBSE Board Examination    (XII) and handed over the KINDLES to the Principals of respective schools for the students who scored 97% and above in the said examination.

The Principal APS Damana also received a Kindle on behalf of Miss Anam Sadhotra of Class XII (Humanities) in the same category.
